Holly Hunter was an American actress, who gained fame due to her roles in films Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. She has won numerous awards for her work, including an Oscar. The path to acting began with Broadway by performing in a range of Broadway as well as Off Broadway initiatives. From the time she was a child she's always been enthusiastic about acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school play. Following a bout of mumps, she went blind on the other side of her ear. However, this was not enough to stop her desire to pursue a career as an actress. When she was a teenager, she took classes in drama at college before moving to New York City from Pittsburgh in order to pursue her ambitions. After a casual encounter, she became trapped in an elevator along with the playwright Beth Henley and the two joined forces to create the Broadway Crimes of the Heart and was Hunter's first performance. After moving from New York to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to land movie roles. The role of a supporting actress was securing for Swing Shift. She has since appeared in many shows and TV films over a career spanning more than three decades. Holly Hunter won a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
