Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor also known as a producer, director and actress. Her work has been recognized for her roles in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, like an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. The talented actress began her career in acting on the stage with an array of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Enthusiastic about acting from the time she was in school, she portrayed Helen Keller in a play during the 5th grade. Mumps led her to lose hearing in one of her ears, but this didn't stop the actress from fulfilling her dream. In her teens she studied drama, and eventually moved into New York City. She ran into Beth Henley in an elevator and they worked together on Broadway Crimes of the Heart, Hunter's first film. As she relocated into Los Angeles, Hunter tried to get movie roles. An supporting role was found in Swing Shift. For the past 30 years Holly Hunter has been on many TV and film shows. Holly Hunter won a star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and also her Women in Film Lucy Award.
